Statement of Research:
My research focuses on liberation movements in the US South during the 1970s. I am particularly interested in the influence of the Black Power movement on gay and lesbian activists in the South. The development of Southern lesbian feminist organizations is central to my dissertation. In it, I explore how these organizations navigated issues of racial identity and issues of sexism over the course of the decade.
